CIGA Press Release – New Certification Scheme

Offering an all-inclusive compliance route for member companies.

CIGA will now be offering its member installers CIGA PAS 2030 certification as part of their membership. By bringing this important assessment and surveillance function in house for the first time, CIGA membership will continue to provide confidence that all member installers are competent, and that disciplinary sanctions are effective whilst benefiting from a single approach to certification, surveillance and assessment.

Currently CIGA occupies a unique position within the CWI industry, providing member companies with training and best practice technical guidance together with access to the CWISC competent persons scheme with work backed by the CIGA Guarantee. Earlier this year CIGA were central to the initiative to protect against the risk of inappropriate properties being treated through the introduction of a requirement for the Independent Surveillance of Assessments from 1st May and remain committed to ensuring that work is completed to a high standard.

This new membership service to be fully launched by the 1st of September 2017, falls within the scope of CIGA’s existing UKAS accreditation. This decision will mean that, in addition to the Cavity Wall Insulation Self Certification (CWISC) competent persons scheme, member installers will have a choice of certification bodies with which to work.

CIGA will now be providing an end to end offer covering:

  • Training and development
  • Certification to PAS 2030/2031 2017 surveillance rates
  • Independent Surveillance of Assessment
  • Issue of appropriate guarantees

This development will mean that CIGA is now not just a guarantee scheme but an end to end assurance approach for Funders, Regulators, Government and our membership and by taking this very important step CIGA are confident they can provide consumers with greater reassurance and support, effectively moving ever closer towards the key recommendations made in the Peter Bonfield Each Home Counts review.

CIGA will continue to recognise competitor certification schemes where these meet the CIGA criteria.

If you are a member and want to find out more about how the certification process will benefit you and your customers log in to the members section and read CIGA’s update.
